Makes 3 - 9"x 5" loaves

Requires yeast and several hours for rising.
Oven 400° 40-50 min

 
OATMEAL BREAD
 
This is the bread we made in KellyÕs 3rd grade class with all the children.
 
¼Clukewarm water>Dissolve yeast in water in small bowl.
1Pkgyeast
 
4Cboiling Skim milk>Combine Milk, Oats & butter in large bowl. Let stand 30 minutes.
2CRolled Oats
¼Cbutter
 
½CMolasses or Brown Sugar>Add molasses, salt & Yeast mixture to oats.
1TSalt
 
10-11cupsFlour (sifted)>Add flour until soft dough is formed, a few cups at a time.
 
  1. Place dough in buttered bowl: cover and let rise until doubled in size. Punch down.
  2. Place dough on floured board (or counter) and knead until dough becomes elastic. (About 10 Minutes)
  3. Divide into 3 loaves; place in buttered 9 x 5 pans.
  4. Let rise again.
  5. Bake for 40 to 50 min. at 400°.
